Full membership is open to anyone aged 18 or over and junior membership is available for young people. The annual subscription is currently £8 but junior members and students over 18, in full time education, pay half this rate.
Members pay an additional £3 when attending our workshop meetings on a Saturday. Non members are also welcome but pay a workshop fee of £4. A non member who decided to join will have any of these additional fees (i.e. the extra £1) deducted from their initial annual subscription.
Our monthly newsletter, The Scribbler, ensures that each member is kept fully informed about our activities and about individual news of note. A variety of brief articles and short calligraphic pieces penned by members is also included.
Each year we produce a calendar in which twelve scribes interpret a Northumbrian theme and pen a calligraphic piece to head the calendar details for each month.
Scribes join in our co-operative making and publishing ventures. The Book of Escomb is still available from some SPCK shops and our Society. Our tea towels and our Celtic poster is also available from the shop at Bede's World. For our tenth anniversary we produced an address book and we still have some copies available.
